Senior GAA
Our Senior Footballers had a winning start to their league campaign with a two point away win over Sarsfields. Having conceded an early goal against the run of play we recovered and an attack-minded performance yielded 2-10 from seven different scorers. The overall performance was solid but it was disappointing to concede goals in the last minute of both halves. The next football league outing v St. Martins is on Sunday week.
Our Senior Intercounty stars were in action at the weekend with Michael O’Regan and Rob Tierney playing their part in Wexford’s defeat over neighbours Waterford in the Allianz NFL on Saturday while Mark Fanning and his Wexford Senior Hurling colleagues had an excellent victory over Kerry on Sunday.
Club Person of the Year
Congratulations to Clubman Michael Laffan on his Wexford GAA District Club person of the Year award at last night’s event in the Riverbank House Hotel. Michael has a lifelong association with the both as an underage and adult player, team manager, committee member and fundraiser. He has also represented the club at Co. Level both on and off the hurling field in various capacities. Well done Mickey!
Reunion Thanks
A great night was had by all at the Glynn Barntown GAA, Camogie and Ladies Football Clubs Reunion last night in the Riverbank House Hotel where the players gathered in excellent numbers to receive Intermediate Football Championship and League medals, Senior B Camogie Championship medals, Junior Hurling League medals and Jim Byrne cup medals to name but a few.
Thank you to all of our distinguished guests, Fr. Stafford, Fr. Carroll and Fr. Lory Kehoe, to Co Camogie Chairperson Ailish Whitty and her husband Michael and most especially to our GAA Club sponsors John and Mai Doyle and Camogie Sponsors Mary and Declan Roche all of whom lend unending support to the clubs. Thanks to all who attended the event or helped in any way to make it happen and a word of thanks to Woodies DIY for their kind sponsorship of balloons for the festivities.
